CAN YOU RECOGNISE A PINOT NOIR FROM BURGUNDY? Pinot Noir, the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy, does not like to travel. Outside Burgundy, it only produces fine wines, in Champagne (but white sparkling wine) and ... in Germany. Particularly in the Rheingau, the region where our twin town Rüdesheim am Rhein is located, pinot noir has been at home since at least the 14th century. A lecture on the Franco-German history of the grape variety will be followed by a blind tasting of six Pinots. And which one is the German intruder?
