A family tragicomedy by Agnès Larroque
Through a narrative that mirrors the social and political divisions in our society, Pan, a domestic rabbit, tells us the story of France, a teenage girl entering her thirteenth year.
France often tries to kill herself. But France is clumsy and always fails. Sometimes the stool gives way, sometimes the rope is too long, or the ceiling light comes loose. What a disaster! Meanwhile, her father is racking up the kilometres on Zwift, the virtual training platform for cyclists, whilst her mother films her ‘One recipe, one minute’ cookery tutorials for her YouTube channel. As for her brother, Pierre, losing his virginity remains
his goal for the year. Apart from Pan, no one notices France’s suffering. A newcomer to the secondary school, Assa, is about to turn everything upside down. She is Black…
With this play, winner of the Journées de Lyon des Autrices et Auteurs de Théâtre, the Détour theatre company wields the weapon of laughter as an act of resistance against the violence of the world.
