Come and discover a gem of Beaune’s heritage, restored by the Beaune Tourist Office in Burgundy. Originally a 13th-century chapel, for several centuries it served as the place of worship attached to the Hôpital du Saint-Esprit, founded before the Hôtel-Dieu. Just like the famous Salle des Pôvres, the chapel features a roof structure shaped like an inverted ship’s hull. It survived the closure of the hospital and was used for a time to house infantry troops, before being converted into a wine cellar in the 20th century. Its renovation by the Beaune & Pays Beaunois Tourist Office, to serve as its administrative headquarters, has given it a new lease of life as it enters the 21st century.
