Imaginary Requiem for Charles V
In 1558, retired to the monastery of Yuste after abdicating, Charles V organised a ceremony for his own funeral. Was it a theatrical rehearsal or a spiritual vertigo? A few weeks later, the emperor died - for real!
From this episode, Simon-Pierre Bestion has fashioned this imaginary Requiem, a dreamlike evocation rather than a strict reconstruction of the Mass of the Dead given for an emperor. La Tempête, for whom each concert is a unique experience, offers us this immersion in the teeming musical environment of this empire "where the sun never sets", between West and East, Spain and Burgundy.
