Through the eyes of a number of characters, particularly the women, the listener is plunged into the torment and light of the three days of Christ's Passion. Handel's brilliant score expresses the full range of human emotions in the face of this mystery, from struggles to hopes, from faith to redemption. The Banquet Céleste, coming to Beaune for the first time since 2019, knows perfectly well the collective breath of these great sacred dramas.
